Here's a few articles on the Four Kingdoms Ren Fest held this past weekend: Quad-City Times Quad-Cities Online - great pic of the Viking Longboat out on the water (it was only on ground at DMRF). Quad City Times - another great pic of the Viking boat. More reports as soon as I hear from Jame'. [AtTheFaire]
ATF offline due to bandwidth. -- posted by JohnPaul on Thursday, October 5, 2006 3:02PM
Sorry about the downtime today. Not sure when it started, but thanks to Troy at ruttersramblings.com for notifying me. It turns out, ATF has transferred 13GB of data in the first four days of the month. Back when I used to have all the full-sized photos in the gallery, we would do about 1GB per day but I haven't been able to keep full size photos on in years. (The ATF offline gallery is 35GB or so, I believe.) Anyway, I'll be checking the server logs to see what caused the surge, but I expect it's the Des Moines and Kansas City photos. The DMRF photos have had some of the most visits of any gallery, but that's probably just tied to the interest a new permanent site seems to generate. Anyway, we're back on for a bit but if the bandwidth pattern continues, don't be too surprised to find ATF offline again. I'm only increasing quota slightly since I want to make sure the bulk of the bandwidth goes to the paying customers (ie, all those other sites you see on the main entrance page when you visit atthefaire.com). More updates later... This weekend beings the Iowa Pumpkin Fest and Harvest Fair at Festival Park. [PerformerNews]
Topeka, KS sword troup looking for new members. -- posted by JohnPaul on Tuesday, October 3, 2006 6:25PM
Hello All - Renaissance Sword Theatre is looking for new performers. We are based in Topeka, KS, and have been actively performing at festivals across the midwest for the past 9 years. We perform unchoreographed blunt-steel fighting which is unlike anything else in the country. Our shows are fast-paced and physically intensive, so come ready to sweat! If you're interested and in the area, (or willing to relocate *grin*) please check us out at www.swordtheatre.com. We have tons of pictures and some videos up in the gallery, so be sure to look there, too. Please drop us a line, we'd love to hear from you! contact@swordtheatre.com with the e-mail heading "New Member Interest" [FestivalNews]
KCRF, MNRF and Bristol (any news?) -- posted by JohnPaul on Monday, October 2, 2006 11:01AM
Last Sunday, I visited the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. I was very impressed with how they treat media. The weekend before, I visited the Kansas City Ren Fest and experienced the "Feast of Fooles" dining experience. I'll try to post some recaps soon. I wasn't able to make it to Bristol this year, so I'm really out of the loop. Anyone got any Bristol news they'd like to pass along? |
